Responsible Gambling

Keep withdrawals separate from play

Treat gambling as paid entertainment and assume every stake may be lost. Set deposit, loss and time limits before starting. Do not cancel a pending withdrawal to keep playing, chase a loss or use money reserved for bills.

Warning signs

Hiding transactions, borrowing, raising stakes, missing responsibilities or repeatedly breaking limits are reasons to stop. Alex Mercer recommends a time-out at the first loss of control and self-exclusion when a longer barrier is needed.

Independent help

UK players can use operator limits, GAMSTOP, device-blocking software and bank gambling blocks. GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline offer confidential support; NHS gambling services provide specialist treatment. Contact emergency services if anyone is in immediate danger.
